Insumnia
This computer game came out of a now-defunct company called LAP – a collaboration of Bob and his mathematician friend Michael back in the 20-teens which focused on educational games. The title comes from a clever adaptation of the insomnia puzzle developed by Albert Einstein. In this version, the player is presented with 4 number tiles and blank operator tiles in between them, and a fifth number after an = sign, which is the target. You then try to use arithmetic operators to combine the 4 numbers to reach the target. In an innovation that was a hallmark of our company, if you come close to the target, you still get points. The target starts out red, and turns yellow when you're close, and green when you've matched it. There are a bunch of options to make the game more interesting, such as setting all the numbers the same and changing the target each time, and also a calculator to help if you need it (you lose points if you use it, though!). Development on the game stalled when the company went out of business, but Bob hopes to work on this project more in the near future.
